Heathenry is a pagan religion centered on the mythology, traditions, and deities of the Germanic peoples of pre-Christian Europe. Asatru is another common term for our religious beliefs and practices; it means literally "true to the gods". The folklore & customs of our tribal Germanic ancestors - whether Scandinavian, Anglo-Saxon, or Teutonic - are the primary sources for Heathenry, especially Norse mythology. Some groups focus more on one cultural group than another. For example, Theodism seeks to revive Anglo-Saxon heathenry; and the term 'Asatru' often refers to folks who rely most on Scandinavian source material.
