In April 2005 several people from Triangle Heathens attended Carolina Spirit Quest and held a blot in honor of Frey and Freya. Below is the draft of the rite. And pictures with a description of the blot by Thorra are here.

Note:- We used Icelandic spring water in place of mead, as the park did not allow alcohol onsite. And the seeds referred to below were sunflower seeds (hulled and roasted). Thorra also gave us some amber scraps/dust to use in the final libation. I. Opening: a.   Gather & Teach (1:00 - 1:15) b.   Enter circle, distribute first portion of seeds and spring-water cups (start promptly at 1:15) II. Hallowing: a.   Hammer Rite    - first round as normal to hallow the place, plus    - a second walk round to hallow the seeds and spring-water saying something like 'Thor hallow these holy gifts' or somesuch III. Hail and Welcome: a.   Master of Ceremonies:    Hail to the Aesir! Hail to the Vanir!    Hail to the Elves and Holy Wights!    We welcome you in frith and friendship!    (...or something similar...) b.   Priest and Priestess:    Hail Frey!    farmer's friend, generous to all,    rich Lord of the green barrow,    fair Gerd's lusty lover,    Njord's son who sails in Skidhbladnir,    swiftest of ships;    You who roam out from Elf-home,    you who laid low Beli,    you who are borne on the back    of the Golden-bristled boar.    Fro Ing!    We welcome you, god of the world,    and ask your blessings    of peace and plenty.    Hail Freya!    fierce and passionate,    first mistress of the slain,    golden Lady, Njord's daughter,    Frey's sister and Odin's equal,    lover of Love and life's pleaures;    You who host the hall in Folkvang,    who fare forth radiant    as the summer's midnight sun.    Fairest Freya!    wise in witchcraft,    We welcome you, goddess of ecstasy,    and ask your blessings    of fulfillment and fruitfullness. IV. Sacrifice - Offering: a.   The Master of Ceremonies calls for folks to make an offering to Frey and Freya, in thanks for past harvests and good springs and summers now past. b.   Folks offer seeds and spring-water that they already have, by libating. V. Sacrifice - Blessing: a.   Priest and Priestess call for Frey's and Freya's blessing upon the second portion of the seeds and spring-water, collected together on the main altar, and upon the gathered folk.    Lord Ing, provider of peace and plenty,    We ask your blessing upon these seeds of spring,    our hopes and wishes for a good summer,    our desire for a fruitful fall.    Fro Ing, generous Frodhi,    bless these seeds so that your people may prosper!    O, Freya, fairest to behold,    golden glory of the radiant sun,    We ask your blessing upon this living water,    our dreams of spring nights sweet-scented,    our longing for harvest's heat at summer's height.    Fair Freya, first mistress,    bless this water so that your folk may be fulfilled! b.   Valkyries distribute the blessed seeds and spring-water to the folk. c.   Priest and Priestess wait for everyone's attention and then declare (with proper alternating rhythm):    Priestess:    From water comes the rain,    Priest:         from rain comes the garden,    Priestess:    from garden grows the tree,    Priest:         from tree falls the seed,    Priestess:    and in the seed lies hidden    Priest:         the water in the rain. d.   Priest and Priestess then call upon folks to think of how they wish the coming spring, summer, and winter to be - what they wish to nurture, how they wish to grow, what they hope to harvest, and with whom they would want to share the year's fulfillment. e.   Master of Ceremonies calls/instructs folks to put their wishes into their seeds and spring-water. While doing so, Priest and Priestess repeat, softly and slowly:    Priestess:    From water comes the rain,    Priest:         from rain comes the garden,    Priestess:    from garden grows the tree,    Priest:         from tree falls the seed,    Priestess:    and in the seed lies hidden    Priest:         the water in the rain. f.   Master of Ceremonies calls/instructs folks to eat and drink a *portion* of their seeds and spring-water, emphasizing that by doing so they are both taking the blessing of Frey and Freya into their lives and the growth & fulfillment they seek into themselves (i.e., they have the help of the gods, but the work is up to them). VI. Sacrifice - Libation: a.   Master of Ceremonies calls/instructs folks to keep a seed to plant at home after Quest if they wish, as a symbol of what they have sacrificed for, but otherwise to libate the remaining seeds and spring-water. b.   Priest and Priestess take the reserved spring-water in the blot bowl, the reserved seeds, and the amber dust, and libate to Frey and Freya, the Aesir and Vanir, the Alfs and Landvaettier, etc. The speech for this part should be ad-libbed, coming out of what has been said in the blot so far. VII. Thank you and Farewell: a.   Priest and Priestess...to Frey and Freya.    (Priest):         Hail, Frey!    (Priestess):    Hail, Freya!    (Priest):         We thank you    (Priestess):    for your bounty and your blessings,    (Priest):         past and present,    (Priestess):    and in seasons yet to come.    (Together):    Hail and Farewell! b.   Master of Ceremonies...to the Aesir and Vanir, Alfs and Landvaettir, etc.    Hail to the Aesir! Hail to the Vanir!    Hail to the Elves and Holy Wights!    We bid you farewell    'til next we raise horns together.    (...or something similar) VIII. Afterward: a.   Open offer to anyone who wants to ask questions afterward, etc. |
